How very CFS of me!! The excellent writer of Osler's Web, Hillary Johnson, referenced in Oct 13's post is (rather obviously) NOT the author of Seabiscuit. Instead, she is the author of the 1987 Rolling Stones articles that quite probably saved my life by detailing and affirming the experience of CFS in a time when it was completely unknown to (not to mention disparaged, dismissed, and ridiculed by) anyone not living with it (mostly especially including the medical profession).
Johnson, an amazing, brave, persistent investigator and truth teller, uncovered the "CDC and NIH's failure to research what they had named 'chronic fatigue syndrome,' their administrators' lies to Congress, and their theft and/or mismanagement of taxpayer dollars earmarked for basic research and epidemiology." Her book, Osler's Web, tells the surreal story.
