Ethical Undies, SD to ME to NC

Tom (of Tom's of Maine fame) has turned in a new direction: ethical wool undies.

Rambler's Way garments are woven from wool that is produced on organic farms, spun into yarn by Kent Manufacturing, knit by Alamac in Lumberton, North Carolina, and cut in Fall River, Massachusetts by 15 Union workers who are paid above average wages.

The sheep on Rambler's Way farm create 10% of the wool used in the garments, the other 90% comes from organic farms in Montana, Nevada, Texas, and South Dakota.

Whew, there's a lot of oil in them there undies, but it's a step in the right direction.
